Jerusalem Pottery

The Jerusalem Pottery is a family shop dedicated to the craft of making glazed pottery. The shop belongs to the Karakashian family who began its activity in Jerusalem after it had arrived from Turkey in 1919. Since that time it has been making pottery richly colored and decorated with floral and animal designs. Its designs represent the traditional motifs taken from ancient mosaics and manuscripts. What is more, it has developed beautiful contemporary tiles representing Biblical stories and the colorful Old City of Jerusalem. The shop sells murals, tile borders, name plates, decorative tile accents, stair riser tiles, and many more. The clays used in the production of tiles are brought from Hebron and the Negev desert and are mixed in a specific proportion which makes them strong and free from glazing and firing defects. The tiles are hand-decorated.
